William James Owens

William J. Owens. Jr., 76, husband of Frances E. (McHugh) Owens for 53 years, residing in Lower Pottsgrove Township, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Pottstown Memorial Hospital.

Born in Royersford, PA he was the son of the late William J. and Ruth P. (Quay) Owens Sr. Bill was a 1963 graduate of St. Pius X High School, Pottstown, and a 1967 graduate of Shippensburg State College. Bill was drafted to the United States Army in 1967 and was a Sergeant in the First Infantry Division during the Vietnam Conflict from 1967-1968. Bill began is professional life with Travelers Insurance and 20+ years with N.W. Controls in Harleysville as their Production Manager. Bill was an EMT/Paramedic with Goodwill Ambulance and Gilbertsville Ambulance for many years. He was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church, Schwenksville. Also, Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Pottstown Elks Lodge #814, served as a past president and as a member of the board of directors for Good Will Steam Fire Engine Company #1 of Pottstown, and past president of the St. Pius X Athletic Association.

Surviving with his wife is a son Kevin B. Owens, husband of Kelly of Pottstown, PA and a daughter Megan E., wife of James Lang of East Coventry Township PA., four grandchildren: Aidan and Reilly Owens, and Sarah and Avery Lang, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Bill is predeceased by his brother, Dennis J. Owens.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Teresa of Calcutta R.C.C. on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Paul C. Brant officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Pottstown. A viewing will be Friday morning from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at St. Teresa of Calcutta Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, PA.
