Wassil B. Chelak

Wassil B. Chelak, Jr., 84, widower of Margaret (Rogosky) Chelak of Schwenksville, PA died Monday August 5, 2013 at Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA . Born in Mahoney City, PA he was the son of the late Wassil and Pearl (Falatovich) Chelak, Sr. Wassil had worked as a welder for Bethlehem Steel Corporation formerly of Pottstown, PA until its closure and then worked for Merck-Sharp & Dome. Wassil was a member of St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Cherry Street, Pottstown, PA. He had worked as a volunteer baking at the church. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are three daughters Debra A. wife of Raymond Conlin of Coatesville, PA and her children Brandon, Joshua, Patrick and Nathaniel Conlin. Nancy A. wife of Michael Davis of Sanatoga, PA and her children Nicholas and Gwendolynne Davis, and Mary M. wife of Scott Conley of Boyertown, PA and her children Nicole, Sean and Aileen Conley. Wassil is also survived by three sisters Pearl Donchak of Brooklyn, New York, Anna Homa of Middletown, PA and Nancy Hill wife of Bill of Harrisburg, PA and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was pre-deceased by six brothers Frank Kabilko, Stephen, Michael, John, Joseph and Gregory Chelak. He is also pre-deceased by a sister Mary Maitti . Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 11 A.M. Interment will be in St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, North Hanover Street, Pottstown, PA A viewing will be Thursday evening from 7 – 9 P.M. from Warker-Troutman Funeral Home 726 East High Street, Pottstown, PA and also Friday morning from 9 – 10:15 A.M. also at the funeral home with Panahida services at 10:15 A.M.
