Wallace H. Skrocki

Wallace H. "Wally" Skrocki, 89, widower of Mary E. (Peroni) Skrocki, of North Price Street, Pottstown, PA died Friday February 24, 2012 at Sanatoga Center. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Herman & Veronica (Mickiewicz) Skrocki. Mr. Skrocki had worked as a production control coordinator & as secretary and president of the local United Auto Workers Union # 644 for Dana Corporation of Pottstown, PA for a total of 46 years. He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta R.C.C. of Linfield & the former St. Peter's R.C.C. in Pottstown, PA. He was a member of Maria Assunta Lodge & the Pottstown American Legion, both formerly of Pottstown, PA. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Wallace was a Pottstown High graduate, class of 1941. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II where he served in the Pacific theatre of operations & ended his tour of duty as a staff sergeant. He also played baseball in the army special services corp with minor leaguers Pee Wee Reese and Phil Rizzuto and others. After the war, he played shortstop & third base in the Boston Red Sox organization and at one point was offered a contract to play for the Philadelphia Phillies. Wally was an avid baseball fan and his favorite hobby in his later years was collecting baseball cards with his son Mark. Surviving is a son Mark W. Skrocki , husband of Mary Beth of Howell, N.J. and a daughter Pamela M. wife of Gary J. Bilinski of Pottstown, PA and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews and godchildren. He is also survived by two brother-in-laws Leo & Peter Peroni and two sister-in-laws Virginia Peroni & Nora Reinhart. He was pre-deceased by sisters Geraldine Brauner and Joanne Sciscio. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Blessed Teresa of Calcutta R.C.C. (Linfield Campus) 1228 Main Street, Linfield, PA on Friday March 2, 2012 at 11 A.M. Interment will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Lower Pottsgrove Township. A viewing will be held on Friday from 9-10:30 A.M. from Warker-Troutman Funeral Home 726 East High Street, Pottstown, PA .
