Susan Brown Mock, widow of Thomas A., Mock in 2011, Pottstown, passed away on January 22, 2025 at the Pottstown Hospital, after a month-long hospital stay.
She was a daughter of the late Gerald E. and Anna E. (Elantkowski) Brown, Susan was born and raised in the Pottsgrove and Pottstown areas. She graduated from Pottstown Schools in 1964.
As a local resident, Susan also worked locally at the following: Boyertown Auto body Works, Boyertown Casket Company and J. Fegely and sons, Coventry Mall guest services and Pottstown School District. She was a jack of all trades; having worked in retail, production and office environments. She had also served as treasurer of the United Steelworkers' Union while employed at the casket company.
Having lived all her life in Pottstown, Susan attempted to positively affect our community' goals and serve the borough residents. She served on Borough Council from January 1994 through 1998 for the 5th Ward. She also served on the school board from November 1999 through December 2003. She worked within the Democratic Party in the 1990's serving the 146th District of Montgomery County. Susan volunteered with the local organizations. While raising her children she volunteered many years with the Boy and girl Scouts. Later in life she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the local Visiting Nurses Association.
In her leisure time, Susan very much enjoyed her grandsons Ian and Eric and great grandchildren, Cooper and Charlotte. She loved to travel domestically by car; she often vacationed with her daughter, Denise and grandson, Ian, for many trips to the South. They would visit South Carolina and to the Northeast, such as Boston. She enjoyed tourism of a historic nature and sought ports hosting "tall ships." After the passing of her husband, she accomplished her lifelong dream by visiting China in 2011 and traveling to Poland to visit her maternal relatives.
Susan was a social butterfly and highly enjoyed being in a social environment and enjoying good friends and good company. She was a positive person that could always make you laugh; her sense of humor was enjoyed by many. She was a good listener and always attempted to offer sound advice to those in search of some.
