Rodman S. Dewitt

Rodman S. DeWitt, 88, widower of Constance S. (Smale) DeWitt of Manor Care, Sinking Spring, PA passed away on Friday August 28, 2015 at the nursing home. Born in Pottstown, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph W. and Katie (Dunlap) DeWitt. Rodman had spent 40 years at the former Pottstown Machine Co. where he started as an apprentice and ended as plant superintendent for the last 15 years before they closed. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Rodman was a member of the Board of Directors of the Pottstown Men's Bowling Association for 35 years and for his last 30 years he served as Vice President. In 1993 he was elected as a life member. He had been very active in youth bowling in the Pottstown area . He was elected President of the Pennsylvania State Junior Bowling Association in 1976 and held this position until 1987 at which time he became past president and adviser to the State Board of Directors a position he still holds. Surviving is a son Randall W. DeWitt husband of Teresa of Cheraw, SC and a daughter Cynthia wife of Dennis McConnell of Reading, PA . He is also survived by two grandchildren Coral McConnell and Mallory wife of Eric Hoffman both of Exeter Township; also three great-grandchildren Aiden Dease and Zoey and Spencer Hoffman. He was pre-deceased by a brother Malcom DeWitt. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 2, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. from Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, 726 East High Street, Pottstown, PA. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park Mausoleum, Pottstown, PA . A viewing will be held from Noon to 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
