Robert C. Thayer

Robert "Bob" C. Thayer, Sr., 82 of Pottstown passed away on November 7, 2017, after an extended period of Illness. His wife, Mary (Germuga ) Thayer, was always by his side. Bob was born and raised in the city of Philadelphia. He was a determined entrepreneur and proudly served as president of his own company, Lehigh Valley Elastic Yarn, for 25 years. Prior to being a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Pottstown, Bob was a member of Saint Thomas More Parish in Allentown, where he completed the RCIA program and joyfully sang in the adult choir. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, and was a lifelong fan of Philadelphia sports teams. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothea (Stevens) Thayer and a sister, Virginia (Thayer) Coleman. Bob is survived by his son Robert Jr. and his wife Sarah of Emmaus and by his daughter Christine Velez and her husband Fred of Williamsburg, VA. Other family members who lovingly remember Bob are Mary's daughters and their spouses: Christine and Erik Rander and Kim and Ken Rohrbach of Macungie, and Janice and Manfred Heckman of Pottstown; 9 grandchildren and one great-grandson; and his sister Joan Thayer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Church at 256 Swamp Pike in Schwenksville, PA 19473 on Friday November 10, 2017 at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Paul C. Brandt, Pastor officiating. After the mass, Bob will be laid to rest at Saint Marks Cemetery in Allentown, PA. Arrangements are by Warker-Troutman Funeral Home. Following the burial family and friends are invited to dinner at Superior Restaurant & Lounge at 102 Main Street in Emmaus, PA to celebrate Bob's life.
