Robert M. Calvario

Robert M. "Chuz" Calvario, 84, widower of Rita F. (Rulli) Calvario of Spring Street, Pottstown, PA passed away on Sunday February 22, 2015 at his residence. Born in Uniontown, PA he was the son of the late Ludwig and Nellie (Laudadio) Calvario. Chuz was the owner & operator of the former C & K Service Station which was located at the corner of Beech and Charlotte Streets in Pottstown for twenty-seven years. He was instrumental in the founding of the former St. Pius X High School and its football program in Pottstown where he served as an assistant football coach to James Mich for eight years. Chuz had served on the committee that had hired coach Mich. He had also been the president of the Pottstown Firebirds, a semi-pro football team in Pottstown in 1968, 1969 and 1970. He was also an avid eagles fan. Chuz was a member of Father Bally Council #1192, Knights of Columbus of Stowe, PA. He was also a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are three sons Thomas A. Calvario husband of Peg of Pottstown, PA; David A. Calvario husband of Beth of Waynesburg, PA; and James A. Calvario husband of Patricia with whom he resided in Pottstown, PA. He is also survived by a daughter Denise A. wife of Michael Schramm of Reading, PA. Also surviving are eight grandchildren Jamie, Anthony, Daniel, Steven, Rachel and Jimmy Calvario, Jason Schramm and Margaret Benfield. He was also pre-deceased by a granddaughter Jodi Calvario. Chuz was also survived by a sister Beatrice C. Basile of Pottstown, PA. He was also pre-deceased by two sisters Rafeal Artz and Jane Mack. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Aloysius R.C.C., 223 Beech Street, Pottstown, PA on Wednesday February 25, 2015 at Noon. A viewing will be celebrated in the Gathering Center of St. Aloysius R.C.C. on Wednesday from 9:30-11:45 A.M. Interment will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Lower Pottsgrove Township In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Jodi Calvario Memorial Fund in care of the Hill School 860 Beech Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.
