Richard Ranieri, 81, of Pottstown, passed away on July 14, 2025, after a brief and sudden illness.
Born in Philadelphia, Richard grew up in various places as a military child, including the Philippines and Hawaii, before eventually settling in the Philadelphia area and calling Pottstown home. A lifelong small business owner, Richard built and ran a successful floor covering business for 42 years. He was deeply respected by his customers for his honesty, expertise, and fair, ethical business practices — and appreciated by all who worked with him for his steady kindness and integrity.
What mattered most to Richard was his faith and his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. A faithful follower of God, Richard read scripture and theology with a depth few realized — always quietly thoughtful, never boastful. His understanding ran deep, but he carried it with humility and grace.
He and his wife Barbara were passionate about giving back, supporting nearly twenty children in developing countries and actively volunteering with community organizations to help those in need. He was heavily involved in his church, serving as a committed Deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Richard will be remembered for his deep humility, unwavering kindness, and quiet generosity. He had a calm and patient spirit, a deep love for God, and, as his family fondly remembers, a special knack for terrible cooking. He also had a special bond with their cat, Poppy — who loved him more than anyone on this earth and misses him deeply.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his children, Lisa, Kimberly (Max) and Jonathan (Allison); his grandchildren, Logan and Hattie; his siblings, Joanne (John) and Ron (late-wife Lynn); brother-in-law Timothy (Sally), and multiple nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating Richard's life will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Coventry Church on Keen Road in Pottstown. Family and friends may gather beginning at 10 a.m.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
We miss our dad more than words can express. His presence, guidance, and love have left an imprint on our hearts, and we already feel the deep ache of his absence. We will carry his memory with us always and hope to honor him in the way we live our lives.
