On January 7, 2026, Richard Leon Corum passed away peacefully at 88 years of age at the Reading Hospital in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Rich was born on October 1,1937 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late William Corum, Sr. and Mary Williams Corum.
Richard Corum attended Pottstown Schools until he enlisted into the United States Air Force in the early 1950's where he served during the Korean conflict.
He was employed for 17 years by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a welder. Rich honed his skills as a master welder teaching others the highly technical craft. Upon closure of that facility, Rich gained employment at Columbia Boiler for another 17 years. He continued to teach the younger men the art of welding and was respected for his skill and expertise. Rich was a true teacher.
Rich was a life member of Montgomery Lodge #1271 in Pottstown, PA where he served as a bartender and loyal member for many years. He was well-loved by Brothers and Daughters of the Lodge. Always entertaining and enjoying others, he left them with many memories of his high-stepping dancing kicks and his soulful singing.
Rich was predeceased by three sons, Ricky Carter, Kevin Curtis, and Troy Jeffries, his beloved sister Dorothy Corum McBall and brothers, Theodore Williams, William "Ace" Corum, Jr., James Williams, and Robert Corum.
Mr. Rich Corum leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 24 years (and many more years) Ethel. He is also survived by two daughters, Sabre Lee Corum (Bernard) of Pottstown, PA and Heather Caldwell (Damon) of Virginia, two brothers, Oliver Corum, Exeter, PA and Charles Dennis Corum (Ruby) of Bel Air, MD. Fourteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren will reflect on his life principles. Mr. Corum, known as Uncle Rich leaves to cherish his memories many nieces and nephews, one being his nephew Bruce with whom he had a special life-long relationship. His memory also remains with his cousins and friends. Although many of his friends have passed on, Rich's best friend Joe Beasley still carries the torch of their friendship.A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 10a.m. till 11a.m. at the Warker~Troutman Funeral Home Inc, Pottstown. A graveside service will follow in Birdsboro Cemetery at 11:45a.m.Warker ~Troutman Funeral Home Inc is honored to serve the Corum family.
Rich was one of a kind. There will never be one like him.
