Nicholas M. Bakay, Jr., 89, widower of Catherine (Hiss) Bakay of Boyertown, PA died Monday April 14, 2014 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Nikolas and Mary (Musick) Bakay.                                                                                       Mr. Bakay was a steel worker for Stanley G. Flagg's Company formerly of Pottstown, PA for thirty years until his retirement in 1987. Nicholas was a member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church 425 West Walnut Street Pottstown, PA . He was also an antique dealer who enjoyed repairing antiques and going to flea markets with his wife Catherine. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Bakay was a proud member of the 101 st Airbourne Division, Company D, 327 th Glider Infantry Regiment in the U.S. Army during World War II where he received  a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars for valor. He was a combatant in the Battle of the Bulge in the European theatre.   After the war he re-enlisted and served stateside during the Korean War. Surviving are two sons James Bakay companion of Rebecca of Holly Hill, Florida and John M. Bakay of Boyertown, PA . Also, three daughters Linda Ann wife of Warren Jaggars, Sr. of Lake Ariel, PA, Shirley Ann widow of Eugene Stilling of Williamsport, PA and Eileen Marie wife of Richard A. Seasholtz of Pottstown, PA . Nicholas is also survived by six grandchildren Emilee Avery, Andrew Derrick, Timothy and Thomas Shultz and Ricky and Nick Seasholtz and four great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two brothers John & Walter Bakay. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church on Monday April 21, 2014 at 11 A.M. The family will receive friends from 10:15 – 11 A.M. Monday at the church. Interment will be in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Douglassville, PA In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church 425 West Walnut Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.
