Mildred Ruffin

Mildred (Whitehurst) Ruffin, 81, widow of Thomas D. Ruffin, Sr. passed away on Monday May 11, 2015 at her residence on Lincoln Avenue in Pottstown, PA . Born in Pottstown, PA she was the daughter of the late William and Della (Arrington) Whitehurst. Mildred was a charter member of Invictus Ministries 79 North Hanover Street, Pottstown, PA. She also served on the mothers board and vessels ministries of the church. She was also a member of the Melody Maids. Surviving are five sons Thomas D. Ruffin, Jr. husband of Linda of Pottstown, PA, Stefan Ruffin of Washington DC, Leroy Ruffin of Pottstown, PA and Jonathan & Christopher Hill both of Pottstown, PA . She is also survived by four daughters Athena wife of John Gibson of Pottstown, PA, Portia Ruffin also of Pottstown, PA, Shawna Ruffin of Douglassville, PA and Darlene Carrol of Philadelphia, PA . She is also survived by two brothers Marvin Whitehurst, Sr. husband of Berwindele and Joseph Whitehurst, Sr. both of Pottstown, PA and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mildred and her late husband Thomas were also parents to 23 foster children over a period of 30 years. Funeral services will be Monday May 18, 2015 at 11 A.M. from Invictus Ministries with Bishop E. V. Debnam, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA . A viewing will be Monday from 9:30 – 11 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Invictus Ministries at the above listed address.
