Mildred Ruth Lester Meyer

Mildred Ruth Lester Meyer, 96, of Cape May, NJ died October 6, 2014 at Coventry Manor Nursing Home in Pottstown, PA. She was the daughter of the late Kate (Schuler) Lester and the late Edward William Lester. She was pre-deceased by one sister and three brothers. Born in Germantown, Mildred was a resident of Huntington Valley, PA before moving to Cape May with her late husband of 56 years, George E. Meyer, Sr. Prior to her role as homemaker, she was employed as a secretary at the Philadelphia Inquirer. Mildred was a charter member of Cape May Lutheran Church, where she participated in Bible Study and the Woman of the Church activities. Mildred enjoyed dressmaking, quilting, hand stitchery, and knitting. She spent many years traveling and boating with her family. Mildred is survived by her three children, George E. Meyer, Jr., New Gretna, NJ, companion of the late Joyce Woods; Brent S. Meyer, Sr., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, husband of Nancy Parsons; and Ruth (Meyer) Kuhn, Boyertown, PA, widow of Douglas Kuhn and companion of Alex Yost. She will also be missed by her nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Cape May Lutheran Church, 509 Pittsburgh Ave., Cape May, NJ 08204. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Cape May Lutheran Church, 509 Pittsburgh Ave., Cape May, NJ 08204.
