Michael Yanis of Pottstown passed away peacefully at the hospital at the age of 67 on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Michael was born in Pottstown on October 17, 1956 and is the son of the late Raymond and Mary Jane (Bacon) Yanis.
Before retiring Michael worked for Diamond Glass, Fanaro Brothers and Parkhouse as a maintenance man over the course of his career. He was a hard worker and was always found fixing things. As he liked to work around the house, he would also lend a helping hand to others when needed. Michael was known for being a fountain of knowledge about everything and anything. If asked he would happily share all he knew about the subject but be warned he could talk your ear off about it which just proves how immerse he was with information.
Michael's hobbies included reading books, the newspaper, listening to the public broadcast radio, watching Fox news, the history and discovery channels. He liked waking up to his donut and coffee every morning. His passions were playing pool, going to the gun range and cruising around town in either his truck, motorcycle or bicycle. You would also find him at the pool in the summer swimming every chance he got along with volunteering to help clean it up before opening. Known as Poppi to his granddaughters he enjoyed taking them swimming, playing outside, eating ice cream and giving them a lollipop. He was always entertained by their company when visiting. He also loved dogs and owned many throughout his life.
Michael leaves behind his memories to be cherished by his wife, Mary Lou (Falco) Yanis, son, Richard John Yanis, and stepdaughters, Shana (Falco) Henning (husband Michael) and Alicia Falco, his brother, Glenn Yanis (wife Shirley) and two granddaughters, Sophia and Madison Henning. He is predeceased by his brother, Edward Yanis.
