Melissa Carlson Booth, 77, peacefully entered into eternal life on April 29, 2024 with family by her side. She was born on August 6,1946 in Johnstown, PA to the late Roy Carlson and Virginia Wilson Carlson.
Melissa is a 1964 Graduate of Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg, PA. She attended Kent State University for two years and graduated from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, PA with a B.A. in Fine Arts/Graphic Design in 1968.
Melissa worked more than 50 years as a graphic designer and Creative Director, spending many years as Creative Director for Boyertown Packaging in Boyertown, PA, where she won two national gold awards from the Flexible Packaging Association. One was for the Old Bay Herr's Potato Chip bag design.
Melissa is survived by her husband of 56 years, Frank. In addition, she is survived by four children and six grandchildren. Her children are; Ian of Wilmington, DE, husband to Kimberly and father of Gavin and Mason. Noah of Bethesda, MD, Colin of Stoneham, MA, husband to Ailine and father of Delilah and Isadora, and Jana of Seattle, WA, partner to Scott Fontaine and mother of Oscar and Isaac. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Skelly of Broadway, VA.
Melissa also found time between managing her career in graphic design and raising four kids for significant outside activities. She served eight years on the Owen J. Roberts School Board, including one year as President and serving as chair and co-chair of many committees. Her love for Owen J Roberts has culminated in establishing a scholarship for graduates pursuing advanced programs in the trades, which were among her favorite studies. Melissa is also very proud of her work with the Republican Party of Chester County and her many years as a Committee Woman, as well as her roles as a community volunteer for Tri-County Express Track & Field, The Salvation Army, among many others.
A public viewing will be held at the Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, Inc. Pottstown, PA on May 2nd, 2024 from 9AM to 11AM. A service will follow at the Funeral Home at 11AM
Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
