Maryann Kovach

Maryann Kovach of Phoenixville passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia. She was 80 years old at the time of her death. She was the eldest of 5 children born to the late Paul and Mary D. Kovach formerly of Pottstown, Pennsylvania.

She received her high school education at Pottstown Sr. High, eventually earning her L.P.N. certification from Reading Muhlenberg School of Practical Nursing. She was employed for many years in her chosen profession. She was admired for her dedication and compassion as a nurse and as a person always willing to lend a helping hand.

Maryann was a cherished friend, sister, cousin, aunt and Godmother. She loved caring for young children and was a volunteer with the local Foster Grandparents Program.

One of her favorite hobbies was going to yard sales. She also delighted in going to flea markets where she would sell items. Meeting fellow vendors and conversing with potential buyers brought her joy.

She adored family and never missed a celebration. She is survived by her four siblings Paul Kovach Jr. (Pamela) of Perkiomenville, Suzanne Umstead (Kenneth) of Spring City, Stephen Kovach, Sanatoga Center, Pottstown, and Linda McDermott (David) of Collegeville. She was the proud aunt to four nieces (Rachel McDermott, Natalie Kovach, Jennifer Kovach, Amy Kovach), two great nieces (Katelyn Umstead, Crystalynn Willman), and three nephews (Jeffrey McDermott, Ken Umstead, Kelsey Umstead). Maryann was predeceased by her two pet cats (Precious and Callie Ann) who recently passed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 3640 Schuylkill Road, Spring City, PA 19475 on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. prior to the beginning of the Mass.

The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Relay for Life Organization of Chester County PA or the American Cancer Society.
