Mary Grace Panfile

Mary Grace (Scheffler) Panfile, widow of Alfred A. Panfile who was her high school sweetheart and husband for sixty-six years, of Schwenk Road, Upper Pottsgrove Township, died Wednesday December 25, 2013 at her residence. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 16, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Samuel R. and Eva (McGuirk) Scheffler. Mary Grace was a lifetime member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. She loved her Irish heritage and had traveled to Ireland many times, making lifelong friends there. She loved watching the Eagles and Phillies with her husband Al. She loved her Pittsburgh roots and especially her cousins who still live there. She enjoyed feeding the birds, taking care of her grandchildren, trips to the Poconos and the credit union trips she attended with her husband Al. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She is survived by two sons, Patrick A. Panfile with whom she resided and Arthur A. Panfile of Drexel Hill; two daughters, Kathleen wife of John Varady and Regina M., wife of William Shainline, both of Boyertown. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Matthew Varady, husband of Erin of Phoenix, Arizona; Jennifer, wife of Mark Kurzenknabe of Hershey; Krista, wife of Joe McLaughlin, of Pottstown; Megan Chec of Boyertown; and Melissa, Heather and Kevin Shainline, all of Boyertown. Also, eight great-grandchildren, Abby, Connor, Bernie, Caden, Kiara, Grace, Logan and William. Mary Grace is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and had a special love for Joseph Nedzia and his wife Daryl, Rosanne Bohner and Stanley Nedzia, who provided her with lots of attention and care including daily visits to give Mary Grace her favorite ice cream treat. She is pre-deceased by a Brother Arthur "Brother" Scheffler and a sister Celine Nedzia. She had many friends and caregivers including her lifelong friend Ann Jane Dobry, caregivers Carol Poulterfer and Dee Berger, her Chestnut Knoll Caregivers Brianna Kimbel, Diane Heffner, Denise Paine, Denise Sellers and Anna Culley, and neighbors the Schwenk and Klaus families. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Aloysius R.C.C., Beech & Hanover Streets, Pottstown, PA, on Monday, December 30, 2013, at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Lower Pottsgrove Township. A viewing will be Monday morning from 9-10:15 A.M. in the Gathering Center of St. Aloysius R.C.C. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alfred A. Panfile Memorial Scholarship Fund at Diamond Credit Union, 1600 Medical Drive, Pottstown, PA 19464.
