Mary Lou Yanis of Pottstown passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones at Phoenixville Hospital at the age of 71 on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Mary Lou was born in Roxborough, PA on August 13, 1954, and is the daughter of Stanley Fital and Jessie Louise Hamm.
Mary Lou spent most of her days working at flea markets throughout the state, mainly at Leesport and Quakertown. Her career started as an administrative assistant and ended as a cafeteria worker at the Hill School where she loved to serve the kids meals before retiring.
Mary Lou is preceded by her husband, Michael Yanis and her son, Jason Falco.
Survived by her children, Alicia Falco, Shana (Michael) Henning, Richard Yanis and grandchildren, Sophia and Madison Henning.
Mary Lou loved her family and friends deeply, especially her three children and two grandchildren. She owned many dogs throughout her life, with a special place in her heart for Daisy. Family always came first with her no matter what. Anytime you needed her she would be there. Mary Lou was proud of all her children. She enjoyed chilling with them on the couch and eating yummy meals which often was fried chicken or Chinese. Becoming a Memaw was her favorite role in life as her granddaughters would light up her world. She enjoyed spending time with them having sleepovers, tea parties, coloring, going swimming, playing at the park, and hanging out at their favorite pizza place drinking orange soda together. Her favorite outfits were the Memaw shirts that the granddaughters bought for her each year along with anything tie-dyed. As she rocked those bright colors you would also see her hair always up in bun.
Mary Lou enjoyed sitting in her recliner watching soap operas, old time shows, Hallmark, HGTV, the Weather Channel and The Big Bang Theory. Fun fact: she wanted to be called Memaw, and she would sing Soft Kitty from that show. She also enjoyed completing word searches and reading her bible daily. Mary Lou also loved going to flea markets and yard sales looking for all kinds of things to refurbish since it was her passion to sell. Her favorite sayings were: if it's free it's for me and look at all my treasures. She especially loved collecting roosters and elephants which you could see all over her house.
Mary Lou was not one to be pampered as she liked simple things. As stubborn as she was, she would try anything once. With a pinch of quirkiness her silliness shined through, and she would find humor in all things. Her laugh was infectious, and she always smiled brightly. You could talk to her about anything and everything, which is why her presence was so welcoming. She was so loved and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Tuesday, November 11th at 9:00 a.m. till 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.
