Mary E. Diamond

Mary E. (Spotts) Diamond, 85, widow of James A. Diamond of Pottstown, PA who she was married to for 60 years, passed away on Monday April 23, 2018 at Pottstown Hospital. Born in Pottstown, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles "Bud" and Helen (Tracey) Spotts. Mary was a graduate of St. Aloysius Grade School. She then graduated from Reading Central Catholic High School in 1950. She graduated from St. Agnes College in Baltimore, MD with a degree in Medical Technology. Mary then received her Medical Technologist Training at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA . Mary was a medical technologist and the blood bank supervisor for Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. After her retirement she became a valued employee at Pottstown Regional Public Library for 27 years. Mary was a Eucharistic minister for Sanatoga Center when she was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta R.C.C. Mary was active in Scouting with her children at St. Aloysius R.C.C. Mary was an avid reader. Surviving are three children, Lynn Benensky wife of Michael of Pottstown, PA, James Diamond husband of Jeanette of Camp Hill, PA and Tracey Flynn wife of Mark of Pottstown, PA. She is also survived by five grandchildren Sean Diamond (Lauren) of Somerville, MA, Eric Diamond (Nicole) of Downington, PA, Patrick Flynn (Alysson) of Columbus, MS, Gabriel Benensky of Pottstown, PA, and Amy Diamond of Camp Hill, PA . Mary is also survived by three great-granddaughters, Mia, Kaylee and Lucy. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Aloysius R.C.C. on Saturday April 28, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. The family will receive friends in the church's Gathering Center Saturday from 9 – 10:30 A.M. Interment will be private in St. Aloysius New Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Pottstown Regional Public Library, 500 East High Street, Pottstown, PA 19464 or to St. Aloysius R.C.C>., 223 Beech Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.
