Mary Alice Betts

Mary Alice Betts of Pottstown Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Walter Willis Betts, Sr., and the late Mattie Lee Betts.

She was born in Oxford, North Carolina and educated in North Carolina schools before moving to Newark, New Jersey in her early teens. Her family then moved to Pottstown, Pennsylvania in her late teens.

Mary Alice worked as a nurse's aide at the Johnson Home Montgomery County Geriatric Center in Royersford, Pennsylvania. She also worked as a nurse's aide at the Pennhurst Asylum in Spring City, Pennsylvania. She served in Environmental Services for many years at the Hill School in Pottstown until she retired.

She loved music (Motown and the 'Oldies'). She also enjoyed murder mystery and investigative shows. She loved watching major league baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies being one of her favorite teams (most of the time😊). Above all, she LOVED her grandchildren.

She is survived by five daughters, Gwen McCrea (late Thomas McCrea) of Pennsylvania, Beverlie Betts Acree (Charles Acree) of Maryland, Desiree Betts of Pennsylvania, Tammy L. Ellison (W. Patrick Ellison) of Pennsylvania, Kelly Betts (Harold McCree) of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Patrick Ellison, Latisa Tanner, Travis Tanner, Ryan Glenn Sr., Avery Betts, Kolby Asonye, Ari Brinson, Brayden Brinson, and Camden Germany; three great grandchildren, Sean Ellison, London Glenn, Ryan Glenn, Jr., a brother-in-law, Saul Yancey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Walter Willis Betts, Sr., Mattie L. Harris Betts, her sisters Ophie Sue Yancey. Georgia Mae Betts, and her brothers Calvin Betts, Sr., George Betts, Sr., and Willie Ray Betts.

While Mary Alice will continue to be here with all of us through our memories, she is now in heaven with other family members who have gone on before her.
