Mark H. Lewis

Mark Hirschfeld Lewis (aka PyD) left behind those he loved and cared deeply for on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

Born in Philadelphia, Mark is the son of Patricia Lewis (deceased), brother to Allison and Stewart Lewis (deceased), father to Hoelen Lewis, the joy of his life, and life partner to Marie Queen, his significant other of 42 years and mother of their son.

Mark attended Philadelphia public schools. He pursued a variety of professions including photography, contracting, and working with special needs children and young adults.

An avid cyclist in his youth, Mark especially enjoyed fishing, photography, music, and working on the land he shared with Hoelen and Marie. Mark found peace in driving the tractor and mowing the fields. He took pleasure in cultivating a wide variety of vegetables and flowers in the large containers surrounding the house. He enjoyed

taking care of the menagerie that included horses, goats, dogs, and cats, but he particularly liked his chickens and built elaborate enclosures for them.

Mark also found time to volunteer with the local youth football league, serving as a coach and announcer for the Norchester Red Knights.

Family was foremost for Mark, starting with son Hoelen. Mark was Hoelen's greatest fan from the moment they met in the delivery room. Their love was boundless. Mark was always there to make sure Hoelen was never without whatever he needed to keep moving forward, to be ready for the next experience and challenge. Mark cherished his sister, aunts, and cousins too and regularly stayed in touch to share news and memories, and if he counted you as a close friend, you were family too.
