Mark James McDonald, 65, loving husband of Julia (Owsiany) McDonald of 40 years, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the Reading Hospital.
He is the son of the late Robert and Agnes (Christie) McDonald.
Along with his wife Julia, Mark is survived by two sons: Beau Jonathan McDonald and Kyle Christian McDonald. Four daughters: Meghan Liana Wyly and husband Robert, Mary Estella Tomlinson and husband Samuel, Kaitlyn Gabriella McDonald, and Julie Francis McDonald. Sister Janice Potts and husband James, and brother Robert McDonald and wife Lori. Grandchildren: Trevor, Ava, Ashlynn, Sara, James, Declan, Jade, Sean, Kyla, Kailiana and William.
He is predeceased by brothers Wayne and Allan McDonald.
Mark graduated from Springfield High School class of 1973. He obtained an Associate Degree from Delaware County Community College in Math and Science, and then was accepted as an Apprentice for the United Association of Journeymen of the Pipe Fitting Industry for five years. He was a proud member of the Local 420 Steamfitter Union of Philadelphia for 35 years. Mark was a semiprofessional boxer for The Delchester Boxing Club.
Mark loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted Husband, Father and "Pop-pop." Mark had a tremendous love for nature and animals. He enjoyed gardening and preciously planting sunflowers for the passerby cars to enjoy. He was an avid reader, especially history; he loved camping trips, boating, and fishing with his family; he enjoyed telling stories that were so extreme but had a talent to make them believable; he was a perfectionist with his carpentry, as he built and renovated homes. Mark was always quick witted with his jokes and comments. He was a master at playing chess.
Mark also enjoyed volunteering his time. He would volunteer at St. Mary's of Providence in Elverson, Pa. He would help the widows of his Church by cutting their grass and gardening. Mark and his family always had room for one more at the dinner table and would take in the homeless. Mark was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active participant of the Pro-Life movement.
He will be laid to rest on Friday, January 1, 2021 at 11:30 A.M. at St. John's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Pottstown.
