Lucrecy Johnson

Mrs. Lucrecy Johnson, neė Lecretia Hedgepeth, daughter of the late Early and Fannie (Suitt) Hedgepeth, was born in Granville County on July 18, 1921. At the age of 104, our family matriarch was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on February 3, 2026, at Parkhouse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Lucrecy lived a life rich in love, devotion, and creativity, and her spirit will forever be cherished by those who knew her.

Predeceased by her husband, John Johnson, Sr., and sons, James Worth Hedgepeth and John Johnson, Jr., as well as her daughter, Carleen McKeever, she is also reunited in spirit with her siblings: Luther Hedgepeth, Otis Hespeth, John Hedgepeth, Wayne Hedgepeth, Sylvia Williamson, Annee Pearl Webb, Janie Gold Downey, and Rachel Jones.

A faithful member of Second Baptist Church of Pottstown for over 70 years, Lucrecy was dedicated to serving the Lord through the Missionary ministry, visiting countless of the sick and shut-in, and making and serving food for many special services at the church, in addition to serving many years as an usher. She sang on the Celestial Choir, and enjoyed singing for the Lord. She loved reading her Bible and spending time with her church family.

Lucrecy's gift of hospitality extended beyond the church doors, providing love and comfort for many. The Lipnack family also held a special place in her heart. Jessica became more like a daughter to Lucrecy. Lucrecy's doors were always open and her loving arms always ready to receive and help whoever needed something. She never made a bad meal. Just the mention of her making cheesesteaks or Brunswick stew or sweet potato pie would draw her grandchildren to her doorstep like a moth to a flame!

Lucrecy had many interests. She loved crocheting, quilting, and making jewelry, and took great pleasure in giving her creations to others. She loved going downtown to McCrory's (5 & 10), Newberry's, Woolworth and the Very Best. Salvation Army was her go to store. For her salt and pepper shaker collection. And she loved going to Carol's Outgrown Shop and other second-hand shops. She also had a great affection for her fish and birds, and her dog, April, who filled her days with joy and companionship. And in her later years, she was known for her remarkable vitality, riding miles on her stationary bike until the age of 99. In her quiet moments, she would immerse herself in crossword puzzles and find peace in reading her Bible

She is survived by her daughter, Anna Mae Seard, of Dayton, OH, as well as 12 grandchildren: Lori Hedgepeth & Michele Sheeler, Elbert Seard, Andrea Weaver, Tonya Glenn, John Johnson, III, Kim Valentine, Lisa Royer, Michaela Richardson, Lucrecy "Missy" McKeever, Krissy McKeever, and Demetrius LaPere McKeever. She also leaves behind a multitude of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Lucrecy's legacy of love will be remembered by many, as she touched the lives of so many around her.

Her family invites all who were touched by Lucrecy's life to join them in celebrating her remarkable journey. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 14th at 11:00am, at Second Baptist Church, 507 N. Adams St., Pottstown, with the viewing to take place at 9:00. A ceremony of remembrance will follow, honoring her life and the love she so freely shared with everyone around her.

As we come together to honor Lucrecy's memory, let us reflect on her unwavering spirit and the love she bestowed upon her family and community. May we carry her legacy forward in our hearts.

Rest in peace, dear Lucrecy. You will be forever missed but always remembered.
