Louis Joseph Ferranti, 76, beloved husband of Kathleen (Snell) Ferranti, passed away on Sunday evening, February 2, 2025, at Pottstown Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Lou had faced health challenges since April of 2024, spending time in the hospital and rehab, yet he remained in good spirits throughout. He received exceptional care at Pottstown Rehab, where he was affectionately known as "Grumpy" by many of his caregivers—a nickname he embraced with a smile. Among those who cared for him, second-floor nurse Kathy held a special place in his heart, earning his trust and appreciation for her compassionate care.
Lou was the oldest child of the late John P. and Mary (Campanaro) Ferranti Sr. He grew up in Stowe, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1967 from Pottsgrove High School. After graduation, Lou served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. His services took him to California and Hawaii where he made many memories.
After returning home, Lou married the love of his life, Kathy, on November 16th, 1974. They celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage last year. Together, they built a loving home and welcomed three children. Lou cherished family life, enjoying camping trips, coaching baseball, and spending time outdoors with his loved ones. Lou dedicated 41 years to a successful career at Dana Corporation before retiring in 2008.
Lou's life was defined by his love for the great outdoors, where he found his greatest joy in hunting and fishing. A true mountain man at heart, he cherished his time vacationing in Sullivan County, embracing the simple pleasures of life. Lou had a keen eye for hidden treasures, often scouring thrift stores for trinkets, always imagining what he could create with his latest finds. A devoted student of the Revolutionary War era, he held a deep appreciation for history, especially muzzleloaders. Lou had a deep love for animals, and his cherished German Shorthaired Pointers, Rollie and Vinnie, were his devoted companions.
Lou will be remembered for his warmth and dedication to his family and friends as well as his humor. He will tremendously missed by everyone who met him. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with his wife, his daughter, Heather Ferranti, his sons, Christopher Ferranti (wife Andrea) and Matthew Ferranti, and his beloved grandson, Rocco Ferranti. He is also survived by his sister, Lisa Boyer (husband Randall), and his Godson, Philip Boyer. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, David Ferranti and John P. Ferranti Jr.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 10 a.m. till 11a.m. at St. Gabriel's Church in Stowe. Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Pottstown.
