Julia (Saska) Potpinko, 88, of Lower Pottsgrove, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 23. Born in Horna Suca, Czechoslovakia, on August 27, 1933, Julia was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Orsag) Saska. Julia travelled to America in 1937 with her family and entered through Ellis Island. Julia became a naturalized citizen of the USA in 1957. Julia will always be lovingly remembered by her friends and family members. Julia and Paul had three children, their eldest daughter, Beth Anne (Potpinko) Starkman, wife of Dr. Moishe Starkman; their son, Paul L. Potpinko Jr.; their youngest daughter, Karen (Potpinko) Bailey, wife of Thomas C. Bailey, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Alexander Starkman, Morgan (Bailey) Cox, Zachary Bailey, Grace Potpinko, Lilly Starkman, Jack Potpinko, and Charlie Potpinko. Julia was pre-deceased by three siblings, Julian Saska, Augusta Saska and Theodore Saska.
Julia was a prayer warrior! Julia's relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus was the most important relationship in her life. She prayed all day every day and lived a Christ-like life. Julia was selfless with her family, friends and those in need. She was very involved in her church and donated funds to many catholic charities. Towards the end of her life, when she was unable to attend church at St. Al's, Julia loved to watch Mass on EWTN every day.
Julia loved all flowers and she had a God-given talent with arranging them. Julia's occupation was a homemaker. However, she preferred to be referred to as a domesticated engineer. Julia enjoyed attending Polka Dances with her family members. She especially enjoyed attending the Polka Festival held every year in Pottstown at The Sunnybrook Ballroom. Her other hobbies included: playing and watching basketball, playing cards, watching The Lawrence Welk Show, playing board games, watching cooking shows and listening to Big Band music. She made time for all of her family members. Julia aka MomMom was especially devoted to all of her grandchildren often playing basketball with them well in to her eighties. She loved having her family all together and laughing with them.
Julia was a beautiful person who lived a beautiful life. Please join us in memorializing her on Thursday, June 30th at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 223 Beech Street, Pottstown, PA 19464. There will be a viewing held at 10 a.m. 11 a.m. directly followed by a Celebration of Life Mass at 11 a.m. After the Mass, there will be a Burial service and interment held at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Grosstown Road in Stowe, PA.
