Josephine S. Whitcraft, 94, widow of Joseph Whitcraft, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Manatawny Manor Assisted Living, Pottstown. Better known to many as "Aunt Jo" by the extended family of her caregiver, Kathy (Kate) Kumitis, she was loved by many. Surviving family include nieces and nephews with great and great-great nieces and nephews. Born on December 30, 1920 in Hudson, PA, daughter of Leon and Mary Anne (Synoracki) Rogaski, she outlived her siblings, Stephen Rogaski, Chester Rogaski, Louis Rogaski, Narccissus (Francis) Rogaski, Theresa Rogaski (Kumitis), Leona Rogaski (Parada), and Florence Rogaski (Bell). She lived in Buffalo, NY for nine years with relatives and worked in Duffy's Silk Mill as a machine operator, making parachutes for World War II. She met her first husband, Francis L. Gierlach in New York, they married in 1943 at Ft. Dix, NJ before he left for his service duty and he lost his life in North Africa that same year. She returned to the Hudson/Plains, PA area and worked at a Box Factory in Plains. She married Julius Bonewicz on April 24, 1948 in St. Joseph's Church, Hudson, PA and lived several years in Penn Valley Manor, Yardley, PA. She met Joe Whitcraft in the late sixties and married him in October, 1976 and resided with him in Gloucester, NJ until his passing in September, 1985. She moved back to Pennsylvania spending time in Pottstown and Wilkes-Barre. Aunt Jo was a loving and kind woman who was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables. She will be missed by many. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Blessed Teresa of Calcutta R.C.C. 256 Swamp Pike Schwenksville, PA on Saturday May 9, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Edward Kuczynski and Deacon David Kubczak officiating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Grosstown Road, Stowe, PA . The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. on Saturday morning at the church.
