Joseph W Gierschick

Joseph W. Gierschick Jr., devoted husband of Pamela (Monroe) Gierschick, passed away at the age of 82 on July 23, 2023 at his home in Stowe, PA surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 21, 1941, he was a son of the late Joseph W. Gierschick Sr., and Pauline L. (Kiedeisch) Gierschick.

Joe attended Reading Central High School, class of 1959 and proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy. For most of the time Joe was on the USS Long Beach. He worked at Firestone until it closed and retired as a Correctional Officer for Graterford Prison. Joe was an avid boater and fisherman. He owned a second home on the waterfront in Milford, DE.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Janet (Gierschick) Houser (husband Charlie) of Reading PA, Kimberly (Foskey) Russell of Stowe, PA and Joseph W. Gierschick III (fiancée Jennie) of Pottstown, PA, siblings: Frances VanCoeur, Pauline L. Cappel, James Gierschick, Richard Gierschick and Charles Gierschick all from Reading, PA, grandchildren: Amber Houser, Michael Day, Connor Russell and Kalee Russell, and two great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by a sister Joan B. Gierschick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023 at St. Gabriel's R.C. Church in Stowe, PA at 11 a.m. A public viewing will be held prior to Mass from 10 A.M. till 11 A.M at the Church.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Gabriel's R.C. Church.
