John R. Jones

John R. Jones passed peacefully in his sleep on January 22, 2018 at the age of 89. John was born in Summit Hill, PA Carbon County on July 8, 1928 to the late John and Cora (Hough) Jones. He is survived by his lovely and dedicated bride of 65 years, Christine (Cusanelli) Jones of Pottstown, PA, daughters Kati Artis (Vince Artis) of Pottstown, PA and Chrissy Ziemak (the late Tommy Ziemak) of Gilbertsville, PA, and son John Jones (Maria Jones) of Pottstown, PA. He was pre-deceased by 8 brothers and sisters. He was the beloved "Pop-Pop" of 6 grandchildren; Erin and Michael Ziemak, Jonathan, Jessica and Jenna Jones, and the late Alexa Artis. John graduated from Summit Hill High School in 1946 where he played football. Immediately following graduation, he went to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Post enlistment, he dedicated his life to his family and working hard at the Borough of Pottstown Sewage Treatment Plant for 30 years where he was a Supervisor of Plant Operations. John was a family man that enjoyed the outdoors, his morning walks, the Church, and his wife's cooking. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and also thoroughly enjoyed attending all his children and grandchildren's sporting events as well. John and his wife, Christine, enjoyed many trips after retirement, traveling all over the world and experiencing new cultures, bringing home many stories that he loved to share with his family. He will be remembered by all for his sweet, gentle soul and kind personality. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 25 at St. Aloysius Gathering Center from 9-10:45 am. Mass will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to thank the supportive staff at Pottstown Hospital Tower Health.
