John Lewis Barber

John "Moe" Lewis Barber Sr., 83 husband of the late Mary L. (Saunders) Barber, was called to rest on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Pottstown Hospital.

He was the son of the late William Dennis Barber Sr. and Catherine Agnes (Lewis) Beasley.

Born July 4, 1937, John graduated Pottstown High School in 1956 and continued his education at Delaware State University, graduated in 1961 with a degree in Business Education. John is a loving family man. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing and watching basketball, his favorite team was the LA Lakers and favorite player was Elgin Baylor. John's other sport that he loved to watch and play was golf. He caddied for Brookside County Club for many years. He was proud and supported the young African American Athletes and enjoyed watching them thrive in their talents. John retired from being a purchasing agent for Graterford Prison.

John is survived by a son, John Lewis Barber Jr., a daughter Maureen L. Barber, and one grandchild, John Lewis Barber III.

Along with his beloved wife Mary and parents, John is predeceased by a brother William Dennis Barber Jr. and step-sister Mildred (Beasley) Green.

A home going service will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11 A.M. a public viewing will be held prior to the service from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at Mt Olive Baptist Church located at 240 Mintzer Street, Pottstown.
