John R. Glutz Sr., 91, husband of the loving Audrey A. (Parvenski) Glutz, passed away July 3rd, 2023 at the Reading Hospital.
He was a son of the late William and Karoline (Pastva) Glutz. He was the youngest of ten children.
John was drafted into the United States army in 1953 and served during the Korean War. He worked for Firestone and Occidental Chemical for 37 years. John was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. John and his loving wife, Audrey, just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary; together they enjoyed traveling all around the United States and abroad but the most joy he got was traveling to New Jersey to visit his children and grandchildren.
John always had a love of sports. He was an avid golfer who on numerous occasions shot his age and had 5 hole-in-ones. John was the #1 fan of St. Pius X High School athletics, the alma mater of his 3 children who competed in multiple sports. He became a Rutgers fan as both of his daughters played collegiate basketball, traveling to New Brunswick for eight straight years.
Along with his wife, John is survived by his children: Kathryn Ann Glutz, John R. Glutz, Jr., (wife Barbara) and Carolyn McFadden (husband James). Known as Pop Pop to his grandchildren: Emily Glutz, Allie Glutz, Matthew Glutz (wife Samantha), Christen Palmer (husband Clay), Kevin McFadden (fiancé Michelle), Megan McFadden and Erin McFadden.
A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. at the Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, Inc., Pottstown. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Pottstown.
Burial will follow in St. Aloysius New Cemetery.
