Joe E. Miller

Joe Elwood Miller, 91, of Pottstown passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Phoenixville Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ella L. (Grey) Miller.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Joe T. and Kathryn J. Miller. Joe attended school and Church in Cincinnati before jointing the U.S. Navy at a young age. He was a career Navy man serving 22 years active duty and 8 years on active reserve as a flight mechanic. He traveled overseas many times, crossing the equator twice.

Upon retiring from the Navy, he settled in Pottstown with his wife and children, where he worked at NEAPCO for 22 years before finally retiring a second time. He loved working on cars and became somewhat the "neighborhood mechanic" as well as being a bonded locksmith and a Mason member. Weekends you could find him at the golf course, his favorite pastime and he was also quite the jokester to all that knew him.

Joe is predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude Penn and Mila Baker. One grandson, Donte' O. Harris.

Joe's memories will be cherished by one sister, Elizabeth Miller Lewis, four children: Dr. Gary S. Miller (Katy) NC, Joseph E. Miller, OH, Diane E. Chapman, PA, Lisa A. Carpenter, NJ. Five grandchildren: Courtney, Lacie, Shawn, Jr, Skylar and Siani. Six great grandchildren: Jaiden, Tyanna, Deonnes, Courtney, Ella and Everly.

Three nephews: Ruel Odom (Sheryl), Chuck and Darryl Baker. One Godson, Michael Johnson. Two special daughters, Linda Birckhead and Kelly Robinson and special son Bruce Mills.

A Homegoing service will be held for Joe on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 11 A.M. at the Warker~Troutman Funeral Home Inc, Pottstown. Friends may call prior to service from 9:45 A.M. to 10:45 A.M.

Burial will be in the Veteran section in Limerick Garden of Memories.
