JoAnn E. Sweet, 93, of Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale, PA, formerly of Woodloch Springs, PA, Sanibel Island, FL, Scotch Plains, NJ, and Linden, NJ, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024. Born in Muskegon, MI, JoAnn was the daughter of the late Emil and Alfhild ( Johansson) Berg.

JoAnn was a devoted wife to her late husband, George Sweet, and a loving mother to her four children. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary Palladino; her sons, Thomas Sweet (Susan) and John Sweet (Maria); her son-in-law, Alan Howarth; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. JoAnn was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Howarth, and son-in-law, Robert Palladino.

A graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing in Chicago, JoAnn spent much of her career as a school nurse in Scotch Plains, NJ, where she was deeply respected by both students and colleagues. JoAnn was an active member of her parish's Rosary Altar Society as well as a Girl Scout leader.

JoAnn enjoyed a rich and active life, which included traveling, playing cards, bowling, and joining in competitive games of mahjong. She was also a regular volunteer at the Dorflinger Glass Museum. JoAnn cherished her Swedish heritage and brought her family recipes to holiday meals, a tradition that is continued by her children and grandchildren. JoAnn had a passion for golf, once achieving the rare and coveted feat of a hole-in-one. Her artistic talent shone through her watercolors, a hobby that brought her immense joy and served as a creative outlet.Â

Her family was her greatest love. Her grandchildren referred to her as the "action grandma" for the fun she brought to their time together.  She will be missed by all who loved her.Â

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 22nd at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, PA. Visitation hours are 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to BVM Queen of Peace Church, 314 Chestnut Avenue, Hawley, PA 18428.
