Joan V. Hohl

Joan V. (Vanderslice) Hohl, 89, formerly of East Coventry Township, wife of H. Eugene Holl, died on October 25, 2017 at Sanatoga Court, Pottstown, PA. Born in Hagerstown, MD. and raised in Pottstown, PA., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Della Vanderslice. A graduate of Pottstown High School in 1946, Joan worked for Dana Corporation and a school aide in the Owen J. Roberts School District. She is survived by husband "Gene", four children, Vicki (Brent) Miller of East Coventry Township, Doren (Bea) Hohl, of Sante Clarita, CA., Timothy (Renee) Thompson-Hohl of Lower Merion Township and Kim (Ralph) Veigel of Warwick Township; nine grandchildren Andrea, Greg, Spencer, Hanna, Colin, Elise, Ian, Betsy and Diana and two great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William and David Vanderslice and Paula "Honey" (James0 Jones. Joan was an active member of Cedarville United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was the Sunday School secretary. She was also a member of the Parker Ford Women's Club, The Order of the Eastern Star, Schuylkill Chapter #338. Pottstown Chapter and long-time Clerk-Inspector for Voting in East Coventry Township, 1st Ward. Joan loved to read the newspaper every day, enjoyed her life as a long-time homemaker, raising her family, pets and other household chores. She was a friendly and sociable person, always engaging people in conversation and caring gestures. A "Celebration of her Life" will be held at the Cedarville United Methodist Church (www.cedarvilleumc.org) on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 4:00pm. The Memorial Service will be preceeded by a Calling Hour from 2:30-4:00pm. Memorial contributions can be given in Joan's name to the Cedarville UMC. Arrangements are being made by the Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, Pottstown, PA (www.warkertroutmanfuneralhome.com) Joan was known and loved by many and will be missed by all.
