Joan C. Coleman

Joan C. (Gomen) Coleman, 90, widow of Joseph F. Coleman of Manatawny Manor assisted living facility. East Coventry Township passed away on Sunday January 1, 2012 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Paul John and Johanna K. (Unterkofler) Gomen. Joan was an administrative assistant for State Farm Insurance Company in Springfield, PA and then for the Montgomery Insurance Agency in Media, PA before her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta R.C.C. 1228 Main Street Linfield, PA. She had been an active member of the Senior Citizens Group of St. Columbkill's R.C.C. in Boyertown, PA. While she was a member of Notre Dame De Lourdes R.C.C. in Swarthmore, PA she was very active in the Sodality of Mary Group. While living in Florida she was involved in several outreach programs and pro-life groups. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing and playing bingo. Surviving is a son Joseph Coleman husband of Elizabeth of Langhorne, PA and a daughter Kathleen wife of John Eckley of Gilbertsville, PA and seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a daughter Maureen Coleman and a grandson Joseph Coleman III. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Blessed Teresa of Calcutta R.C.C. 1228 Main St. Linfield, PA on Thursday January 5, 2011 at 11 A.M. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery Yeadon, PA. A viewing will be Thursday from 9:30 – 11 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
