Joan M. (Smith) Cimino, 90, loving wife of Stanley D. Cimino, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Manatawny Manor.
She is a daughter of the late William and Kathryn (Hoban) Smith.
Joan had many interests, one thing she loved to do was dance; she found the perfect partner with her husband, Stanley. The two of them were beautiful together, and it is what first attracted them to each other. They were inseparable; they had a marriage that many people could only dream of.
She enjoyed reading, which at times was a challenge between raising five kids, helping with her grandchildren, and babysitting for others. No matter the challenge, Joan never complained. She loved being around family. To show her love she would cook and bake frequently for her family get-togethers, which were rarely small events. She was an extraordinary cook, even though her recipes rarely included measurements. It was something she just felt.Â
Joan thoroughly enjoyed getting together with her high school friends. They all made a promise to never lose their friendship. They called it "Club", and maintained a lifelong bond by getting together several times a year. They were there for each other for all these years, in good times and in bad.
Joan enjoyed shopping with her sister and best friend, Shirley Toepel. Known for her classy style, she was a perfect fit for her position as a sales consultant at Agnus Edmunds Bridal and Formal. Her compassion for others made her an equally perfect fit for her subsequent position as a secretary for West Pottsgrove Elementary School, where she was loved by all and maintained many lifelong friendships.
When Joan and Stanley would spend time together, they cherished any opportunity to joke and laugh with Shirley and her husband Dick. Family time will forever have a special place in Joan's heart. Joan's unwavering, limitless love for her husband, her five children, their 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren, was what defined her the most.Â
Along with her husband, Joan is survived by her children: Cheryl A. Riegel (husband Rick), Catherine J. Magee (husband James), S. Dennis Cimino (wife Betty) and Robert M. Cimino (Peggy Loy), a sister; Shirley Toepel, 13 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
Joan is predeceased by a son, David A. Cimino and brother William Smith.
A public viewing will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. in St. Aloysius Gathering Center. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 a.m.
