Jean E. Hillegass

Jean E. (Bowman) Hillegass, 66, wife of Larry B. Hillegass of Pottstown, PA passed away on Thursday November 24th, 2016 at Phoenixville Hospital. Phoenixville, PA after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in Pottstown, PA she was the daughter of the late Leon H. and Catherine (Wentzel) Bowman. Jean was a nurse for over 30 years last working for the Pottstown Visiting Nurses. She graduated from Montgomery County Community College with her RN degree. She was a member of St. Aloysius R.C.C. and Grace Lutheran Church both of Pottstown, PA . She was a girl scout leader and also an avid Miami Hurricanes fan. Jean loved the beach & visiting Tennessee and traveling with her husband. She enjoyed 48 years of marriage. Surviving are two sons Larry B. Hillegass, Jr. and Lance D. Hillegass both of Pottstown, PA. She is also survived by a daughter Krista L. wife of Cal Benfield of Pottstown, PA . She is survived by a brother Leon Bowman husband of Dori of Reading, PA and a sister Kathleen M. Daya of Douglassville, PA. Jean is also survived by seven grandchildren Amber, Lance, Brigid, Conor, Luke, Peyton & Jack. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday December 1, 2016 at 11 A.M from Warker-Troutman Funeral Home 726 East High Street, Pottstown, PA with the Rev. Joseph L. Maloney, pastor of St. Aloysius R.C.C. officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11 A.M. at the funeral home.
