Helen V. Ondo, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Manatawny Manor.
She was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Fedor) Ondo.
Helen graduated Pottstown High School in June of 1952 and was almost immediately employed by Bell Telephone Company, Pottstown branch as a switchboard operator. Over the years she moved into various departments retiring in 1992 after forty years of service. Of note, this was Helen's first and only job during her entire lifetime.
Helen loved to play bingo and games of chance. An avid and fast reader, she typically read novels within a day or two. Other interests included crochet, casino trips, shopping and spending time with and spoiling her many nieces and nephews. She was a family favorite for babysitting and was especially drawn to infants.
A very spiritual person and devout Catholic, Helen was very active in her church organizations and in recent years with the Padre Pio prayer group in Bally, PA. Helen held a particular devotion to St. Pio and the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed unceasingly for her many relatives.
To have had the opportunity to meet Helen, you were from then on considered a valued friend. Helen was blessed to have had many friends and was very generous with her time, talents and treasures.
Helen is survived by a brother Joseph Ondo (husband of Nancy) and sister, Ann Washko (wife of Andrew). Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Helen is predeceased by sisters , Agnes and Mary and brothers, Stephen and George.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Church in Douglassville. Mass will follow at 10 A.M.
Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Stowe.
In lieu of flowers, Mass cards are appreciated or a donation to your favorite charity in Helen's name.
