Gerard J. Brett passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, surrounded by family. He was 81 years old. Beloved husband of Jacinta (Blanchfield) for fifty years. Loving father of Gerard Martin Brett (Colleen), Aidan Terence Brett (Darrell), Aisling Marie Adams (Edward) and Deirdre Margaret Millrood (Gabriel). Devoted grandfather of Cora, Maeve, Finn, Brett, and Cian.
Dear son of the late James Joseph and Mary Ann (Gillespie) Brett and brother of Mary Wall (Don deceased) and Charles Brett (Agnes deceased), the late Jim Brett (Ann), the late Francis Brett (Nancy), the late Brenden Brett (Taffy deceased) and the late Daniel Brett (Kathy); dear brother-in-law of John Blanchfield (deceased), Anna Seymour, Noel Blanchfield, and Patricia Power; cherished cousin and uncle to many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews in both the USA and Ireland.
Gerard served in the US Army, and he attended Saint Joseph's University. He spent many years in the automobile industry before working for PNC Bank for over two decades in the auto loans department as an Assistant Vice President. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he spent a chapter of his life in Ireland with his sons fulfilling a shared dream with his wife to return to her homeland. Ger was a resident of Pottstown, PA for the last 40 years, and was a proud member of his community.
He loved enjoying a walk with his wife Jacinta, his "Queenie", or having a good chat on a bench. And he was an avid tinkerer; always working on a house or yard project around his "Celtic Heir" or helping out at his four children's homes. He enjoyed Notre Dame football, Nova Hoops, and going for joy rides in his 1973 TR6 Triumph sports car. Gerard had a deep love for dogs and rescued a few over the years and leaves behind his loyal border collie, Clancy.
He had many great memories at the Jersey Shore, especially at Ocean View Campground, but his primary passion, was his family and faith. He had a great art for storytelling and was known for beautiful impromptu speeches and prayers. In the final year of Gerard's life he was impacted by cancer and yet his ability to always spread a laugh and a compliment endured even during his final days in hospice care.
