Gerald B. Vermeesch, 83, husband of Rita A. (O'Connell) Vermeesch of Golden Living Center, Exeter Township and formerly of Orlando Road in Pottstown, PA died Monday evening at Golden Living Center. Gerald & Rita were married for sixty-one years. Born in Detroit, Michigan he was the son of the late Bernard and Grace (Van Sumeran) Vermeesch. Mr. Vermeesch had worked in Hotel Management for most of his working life. In his retirement he worked in his son Gregg's business, Moonlight Office Cleaners in Pottstown, PA. He was also a gunmaker of replica flintlock rifles and had operated his business known as the Golden Eagle Gunshop from his Orlando Road home. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr. Vermeesch was a member of St. Columbkill's R.C.C. in Boyertown, PA and a former member of St. Aloysius R.C.C. in Pottstown, PA were he was involved as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a former president of the Daniel Boone Homestead and had displayed his guns at many shows including Sunnybrook in Pottstown, PA . Surviving with his wife are six children Deborah wife of Daniel Shain of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Cynthia wife of Mark Mirth of St. Louis Missouri, Gregg husband of Janice of Pottstown, PA, Pamela Worthen of Bally, PA, Brian husband of Jeanne of Boyertown, PA and Christopher J. of Stowe, PA . Also a brother Donald husband of Elaine of Detroit, Michigan and twenty-three grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Columbkill's R.C.C. 200 Indian Spring Road Boyertown, PA on Saturday at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Most Blessed Sacrament Cemetery, Bally, PA A viewing will be Friday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. from Warker-Troutman Funeral Home 726 East High Street Pottstown, PA and on Saturday from 10:30 – 11 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the National Parkinsons Foundation Support Group Muhlenberg Hospital, Banko Building, Lehigh Valley Hospital Bethlehem, PA 18018.
