George M. Torak

George M. Torak, Sr., 84, husband of Theresa (Robb) Torak of Amity Manor, Douglassville, PA died Monday June 6, 2011 at Manatawny Manor Nursing Home, East Coventry Township. Born in South Pottstown he was the son of the late Stephen J. and Susie K. (Antolik) Torak, Sr. Mr. Torak was an accountant for the the former Vaughn Knitting Mills of Pottstown, PA and then for Dana Corporation of Pottstown for forty years until his retirement in 1984. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Aloysius R.C.C. Beech & Hanover Streets Pottstown, PA where he served as an Usher and Eucharistic minister. He also was in charge of St. Aloysius Bingo for many years. George was a Third Degree member of Father Bally Council #1192 Knights of Columbus of Stowe, PA. He was a Fourth Degree member of Father Tomko General Assembly, Knights of Columbus of Bridgeport and then transferred to the newly formed Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Fourth Degree Chapter in Stowe, PA He was also a member of the Dana Quarter Century Club, the Pottstown American Legion and the Pottstown Quoit Club. He was an avid bowler and golfer and had played shuffleboard for the Knights of Columbus for many years. Surviving with his wife, are two sons George M. Torak, Jr. husband of Suzanne of Birdsboro, PA and Thomas J. Torak husband of Elizabeth of Pawlet, Vermont. Also, four daughters Rose Mary wife of Eugene Green of Gilbertsville, PA, Susan wife of James Kochu of Boyertown, PA, Mary Ann widow of Al Hocke of Lancaster, PA and Patricia wife of Ray Montana of Friendship, Maine. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Also, three sisters Agnes M. wife of John Smiley of Trappe, PA, Mildred A. wife of Anthony V. Giangiacomo and Joan M. wife of Joseph J. Hilbert both of Pottstown, PA He was pre-deceased by a brother Stephen J. Torak, Jr. and a sister Dorothy M. Antush A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Aloysius R.C.C. on Saturday June 11, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
