George Shanta

George Shanta, 89, husband of Madeline (Petro) Shanta of Pottstown passed away Tuesday July 24, 2012 in the Southeastern Veterans Center, Spring City. Born in Monessen, PA he was a son of John and Sophia (Lutza) Shanta. He was employed as a Template Maker by the Bethlehem Steel Corp. and also by Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. He was a member of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church. Surviving are sons George Shanta, David Shanta and James Shanta and his wife Karen. Daughters Bonnie wife of Jack Ballaron and Donna wife of John J. Rizzardi. Grandchildren Daniel, Joshua, Gretchen, Megan, Sarah, Jessica, Colin, Brittany, Lindsey, Dylan and Andrew and eight great-grandchildren. Pre deceased by brothers and sisters John Shanta, Michael Shanta, Mary Gray, Ann Stone, Nicholas Shanta, Helen Kotch, Elizabeth Rohrbach and Barbara Bealer. Divine Liturgy will be offered at 10:30 am Tuesday July 31, 2012 in St John Byzantine Catholic Church 301 Cherry St. Pottstown. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 6 to 8 pm and Tuesday 9:30 to 10 am at the Warker-Troutman Funeral Home 726 High St. Pottstown.
