Frederick Zoller Levis

Frederick Zoller Levis, 64, died April 18, 2024 at Phoenixville Hospital with family by his side, following complications from a fall. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas at the Edna Gladney Home and adopted by Frederick Hemsley Levis and Mercedes Zoller Levis when they lived in Houston, Texas.

Fred was raised in Main Line Pennsylvania, primarily Haverford and Villanova, and summered in the Adirondacks. He attended the Episcopal Academy for most of his school years and graduated from Harriton High School, later attending Ithaca College and the University of Indiana Bloomington. Fred worked many years as an exacting painter and contractor, and served a short stint at the Freedom Foundation; in later years he cared for his aging mother until her death in January 2022.

Fred was a confirmed member of the Episcopal church and an unabashed anglophile, he enjoyed reading history, and was an accomplished photographer who also pored over the daily newspapers; he was always well informed and up for a spirited discussion.

Having passed his formative years in a household with six dogs and four cats being the norm, in adulthood he dearly loved the Irish Water Spaniel breed and his dogs Patrick and Colin. His most distinguishing characteristic is that he was a consummate friend; he nurtured deep friendships throughout his life, and passed many an hour on the phone with peers.

Fred is survived by his sister Lisa Weldon, brother Christian Levis, niece Constance Levis, nephews Walter Lazarz, John Lazarz, Christian Levis Jr, Justin Posnanski, goddaughter Portia Wong, her sisters Allegra Bartscherer and Isabella Davidovich, and many Levis family cousins.

A memorial service for Fred will be held at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, at a later date.

Warker Troutman Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the Levis family.
