Elsie Mae "Utch" Spaar nee Moyer
Elsie Mae Spaar 88 passed away peacefully June 27 th from complications and effects of dementia, at Manatawny Manor where she had been since October, recently under
hospice care.
She was the 13th of 16 children born to Lawrence and Martha (Ibach) Moyer and the final survivor of her siblings.
The widow of Gerald "Flattop" Spaar whom she shared 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2004. She grew up on Grant St. and lovingly talked about her childhood on "chicken hill".
She spent her entire working life as a seamstress in "sweat shops", mostly at Children's Underwear Inc. and Sunset Manufacturing which we joked about how she earned a monstrous $84/month pension.
Family was always a priority in her life with huge family dinners every Sunday at her home when anywhere from 15 to 30 could show up at anytime. She was an avid bowler and bingo player in her youngers years and enjoyed constant trips to the family shore home in Long Neck DE from 1981 to 2006.
She is survived by her children: Wanda Yeager, widow of Barry Sr. and Jerry Jr. husband of Connie (Bailey); granchildren, Barry Yeager Jr.(Tricia), Brian Yeager, Christy Zangrilli and Dustin Zangrilli; great grandchildren, Jordyn, Sienna,Reese, Mykah and Sorrel and a great- great granddaughter, Sawyer.
She was predeceased by all her siblings, her twin sister, Mary and sisters, Grace (Grape) Mazza, Anne Yanessa, Alma (Sis) Nester, Doris Reigner, Arlene Frick, Betty Groff and Bernadette Chalfant as well as the Moyer boys, Marley, Francis (Joe), Lawrence, Jimmy, Ronnie, Ralph (Reggie) and Robert (Moo).
She is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Cora Sharp and Shirley Moyer.
In lieu of flowers, please do something nice for yourself or a family member in Mom's memory.
A short memorial service will take place in St. Aloysius Cemetery, 800 Buchert Rd., Pottstown, PA 19464 on
Saturday, August 7th at 11:30 a.m. and will be a casual affair followed by a luncheon for all who would like to attend and celebrate Utch and Flatty's life as their ashes are placed together in their columbarium. Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, Inc, Pottstown is honored to serve the family.
