Eleanor T. Benfield

Eleanor T. Benfield, 86, widow of Calvin F. "Cal" Benfield of Stowe, PA passed away on Wednesday December 21, 2016 at her residence. Born in Girardville, PA she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eleanor (Flaherty) Purcell. Eleanor had worked for the FBI and then at Rosenberry's and Weiss Markets formerly of Pottstown, PA and worked as a nurse at the former Leader Home and Manatawny Manor. She was a member of St. Aloysius R.C.C., 223 Beech Street, Pottstown, PA where she was a coordinator for the Care & Share program. Eleanor was involved in the Feed the Needy program and had been a member of St. Al's Senior citizens. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxilliary of Father Bally Council #1192 Knights of Columbus. Surviving are five children Donna Marie wife of John Schiel, Sr. of Birdsboro, PA; Thomas Benfield husband of Gena of Pottstown, PA; Robert Benfield husband of Janet of Douglassville, PA; Cal Benfield husband of Krista of Pottstown, PA and Mark Benfield husband of Janis of N. Wildwood, NJ . She is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and pre-deceased by two brothers and one sister. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Aloysius R.C.C. on Tuesday December 27, 2016 at 11 A.M. Interment will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Lower Pottsgrove township. A viewing will be held in the Gathering Center of St. Aloysius R.C.C. on Tuesday from 9-11 A.M. prior to the mass.
