Dorothy (Williams) Markley, born on June 19, 1933 left us on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Brandywine Living at the age of 91.
Born in Norristown, PA to the late Walter M. Williams and Catherine (Koons) Williams, Dorothy was married for 60 years to her high school beau the late William H. Markley. They lived their entire marriage in Audubon, PA where she was a proud military wife and devotedly raised their three sons Wm Scott Markley (Maureen), Christopher Markley (Jamie), and Randall Markley (Sharon) until they recently moved to Brandywine Living in Phoenixville, PA. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church.
Dorothy was an avid gardener and competed yearly with her brother the late John Williams to grow the best tomatoes of the season. Her backyard gardens always had strawberries for her grandchildren to pick and she loved to share the flowers that bloomed, especially the large variety of sunflowers each summer. She was a member of the Norristown Garden Club for many years. She was active in the community as a Republican Committee person and could be found assisting at the polls for many elections.
Dorothy worked for various builders (Berman and laobuccI) over the years in their Customer Service Warranty Department and retired from Comfort Creators.
A professed tomboy as a child, she loved swimming and all things outdoors. Her love of sports continued as she was a fan at many of her sons' soccer, football and baseball games and in later years, her grandchildrens' sporting events. In all kinds of weather, she could be found in the stands cheering them on. Dorothy was also an avid Philadelphia sports fan watching the Flyers, Eagles and Phillies religiously.
She is survived by her sons and their wives and her beloved grandchildren- Scott Patrick, Maura, Niklas, Erika, Addison, Sara and Alyson. Most recently "Nans" was blessed with great-grandchildren she enjoyed immensely during visits at BL.
Per her wishes, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove, in her memory is appreciated. Please visit https://johnjames.audubon.org/ to donate.
She will be missed deeply by family and friends for her quick wit, her hugs as well as her smile and laugh as she listened to all the antics of her offspring.
Family meant EVERYTHING to her.
Warker~Troutman Funeral Home inc is honored to serve the Markley family.
