Dorothy E. Leck

Dorothy "Dot" Elizabeth (Bowen) Leck, 92, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2020 after a lengthy stay at Manatawny Manor in Pottstown. Daughter of John Bowen and Margaret (Arner) Bowen, Dot was born on January 10, 1928 in Park Place (Mahanoy City), Schuylkill County, PA. Dot graduated from Mahanoy Township High School in 1947 and married Michael Leck (deceased) on October 14, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mahanoy City. Together they had four children, Linda Kulp (wife of Randy Kulp), both deceased, of Pottstown PA, Patricia A. Bailey (wife of Lore Bailey), Pottstown PA, Michael Leck Jr. (husband of Geri (Houck) Leck), Pottstown and Donna Hunsinger (wife of Tom Hunsinger) Pottstown. In addition to her surviving children Dot is survived by her sister, Patricia Pettine (wife of Leonard Pettine), Pottstown, seven grandchildren (Jessica, Matthew, Lyle, Elizabeth, Alyx, Michael, Taylor) and three great-grandchildren (Rachel, Martin, Adalynn). Dot worked at both Pennhurst and Norristown State Hospital, was an active volunteer in the Ladies' Guild of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church and was a member of the both St. Aloysius Retirees and Knights of Columbus in Pottstown. Dot enjoyed time with family and friends, travel, trips to Sullivan County, cooking, playing games/cards, visiting casinos and writing letters to friends. She will be remembered fondly as a loving and ever-present mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Burial will be private, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
