Dennis E. Laws

Dennis E. Laws, 60 of Reading, PA passed away Tuesday November 5th at Hershey Medical Center. He was born in Pottstown, PA on April 1, 1953 to the late Dave Brown and Frances Laws. He received his education from Owen J. Roberts High School graduating in 1971, having served as class president. While in high School he excelled in sports, most known for football. He wore #22 as tailback, starting in his sophomore year. He was known for his speed, his ability to stop on a dime, and leave you standing there wondering what happened! He was the 1st running back for Owen J. to run 2,000 yards in one season. He was elected to all scholastic team, all American squad and set and broke many Ches-Mont records. He received the Maxwell Award, numerous other awards and went on to play in the big 33. After graduating he went to Illinois State on a full scholarship, where he also played football. After graduating college he held numerous positions teaching, counciling and working with computers, and owned and operated Del computers for several years. He loved coaching and scouting for other schools, and coached two semi pro football teams. Denny had a great sense of humor, and loved to talk and make people smile and laugh. He was a member of the Montgomery Elks Lodge #1271 and had held positions as exalted ruler and secretary. He is survived by one son, Nathaniel Thompson, one sister Frances M. Laws of Pottstown, PA, three brothers, James M. Laws, Sr. husband of Vannessa, of Phoenixville, PA, Gary Laws, husband of Linda of Pottstown, PA and Daniel Laws Sr. husband of Tami of Reading, PA and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Waverly D. Hatcher. Memorial services will be held on Saturday November 16, 2013 at 1 P.M. from Invictus Ministries, Inc. 79 North Hanover Street, Pottstown, PA with Bishop Everett V. Debnam officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made payable to Warker-Troutman Funeral Home 726 East High Street, Pottstown, PA 19464 to help defray his funeral expenses.
