It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Deidre (Travers) Slifer, age 74, beloved wife of John Slifer, who passed away on June 24, 2026, at Pottstown Hospital. Born on September 10, 1951, in Philadelphia, PA, Deidre was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Marjorie (Harkins) Travers.
Deidre embraced life with passion and grace, finding joy in the simple pleasures that filled her days. She had a love for swimming, gardening, and visiting her favorite destination, the beaches of Wildwood, New Jersey. Her curiosity blossomed when she discovered the wonders of the internet, where she delighted in exploring everything from the latest celebrity gossip to heartwarming stories. Yet, her greatest joy was always found in the warmth of family. Deidre was a devoted wife to John and an adoring mother and grandmother, treasuring every moment spent with her family.
Along with her husband, Deidre leaves behind her memories to be cherished by her son James "Jay" Keenan Jr. and wife Denise, a brother Michael Traves and four amazing grandchildren: Brianna Keenan, James Keenan III, Matthew Keenan and Michael Keenan.
In honoring Deidre's life and legacy, we invite family and friends to celebrate her memory. A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Gathering Center in Pottstown. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church.
Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided during this time, and Warker~Troutman Funeral Home Inc takes pride in serving Deidre's family as they gather to reflect on a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Though she has departed from this earthly realm, Deidre's spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
