David A Burhans

We are sad to announce that our father, David A. Burhans, 79, husband of Colleen (Farrell) Burhans, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.

He was the son of the late Hartley and Loretta (Dallas) Burhans.

David grew up in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Springford High School in 1960. He served his country in the United States Air Force at Fairchild Air Force base in Spokane, Washington, and attended Eastern Washington State College.

David met Colleen while serving in the United States Air Force and they were married in 1965. He worked for 37 years as a Quality Control Manager for Hugin-Sweda International, Gai-Tronics, and retired from Elwin Industries in 2007. He was a member of the American Society for Quality Control.

David enjoyed many hobbies. He was an avid beekeeper and winemaker and enjoyed saltwater fishing, clamming, crabbing, and the outdoors. He refurbished old computers and gave them to kids; he was an early adopter, and an advocate for the cultural change computers have had on the world. He enjoyed his time with his children, five grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews.

Along with his loving wife, Colleen, David is survived by three children: Bryan Burhans (Lisa), Michelle Murphy (Timothy), and Kevin Burhans (Becci), a brother, Christopher Burhans (Diana), and five grandchildren: Nolan Burhans (Carlye), Joseph and Natalie Murphy, Mason and Brody Burhans.

David is preceded by a sister, Barbara Michaels, a child, David A. Burhans Jr., and two nephews: Jason Burhans I and Joshua Burhans.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 13th, 2022 at 10:00 A.M.. Followed by a luncheon at The Loft at Landis Creek, 765 N. Lewis Rd, Royersford, PA 19468. Please RSVP by August 10th by sending an email to MichelleMurphy0307@gmail.com.
