Corinne Ann Murphy (née Bressan), 66, passed peacefully into eternal life on March 16, 2026 surrounded by family. Born on December 30, 1959, in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was the beloved daughter of the late John Bressan and Gloria Bressan.
Corinne was the devoted wife of Deacon Timothy Murphy and a loving mother to her children: Jeffrey Smith (Jennifer), Kevin Smith (Arielle), Grace Murphy, and Julia Lukaneic (Brendan). She was a cherished grandmother to Lillian, Chloe, and Tucker. In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by her mother, Gloria Bressan, and her sister, Suzanne Ritondale (Mario). She was predeceased by her father, John Bressan.
Raised in Maywood, New Jersey, Corinne graduated from Hackensack High School in 1977 and, despite her love of landscape design and gardening, went on to earn a degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University). She began her professional career as a Software Specialist with Burroughs (Unisys), where she developed skills that would later shape her strong entrepreneurial spirit.
A visionary and pioneer, Corinne founded WorldWideGifts.com, one of the early ventures in internet-based retail. She later owned and operated Corinne's Gift Basket and Country Store in Clinton, New Jersey, and a vacation rental business in the U.S. Virgin Islands. She delighted in creating websites and mentoring entrepreneurs, always eager to help others bring their ideas to life. Corinne excelled at understanding others and bringing out the good, whether in business mission or personal ambitions.
Corinne's life was marked by extraordinary generosity and service. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, often bringing her children along, instilling in them a spirit of compassion. As a certified Volunteer Guardian through Volunteer Guardianship One-on-One, she served as legal guardian for several elderly, incapacitated individuals with no family, advocating for their care, dignity, and proper burial. Her service was recognized with a citation from a New Jersey State Senator.
A woman of deep faith, Corinne was devoted to prayer and had a profound love for the Blessed Mother. She was a tireless evangelist and leader in parish life. She founded a Bible study program at her parish and later worked with Ascension Press, traveling widely to support dioceses and parishes in faith formation. In 2014, she helped organize a major leadership event in Belfast, Ireland alongside Catholic speaker Jeff Cavins.
She brought her leadership and missionary zeal to many apostolates, including her work with the Legionaries of Christ in Philadelphia, where she helped build structures for ongoing evangelization efforts. She contributed to initiatives such as the Vocation Action Network and the National Vocation Summit. As Director of Holy Week Missions for Mission Youth Philadelphia, she empowered teenagers to help serve the poor in Kensington and participated in missions in Mexico, often alongside her daughter Grace and husband Tim.
Corinne earned a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Divine Mercy University in 2021 and offered her gifts as a special love for accompanying young women as they discerned their vocation. Wherever she lived, she built community through Bible studies, parish renewal programs, youth formation, and countless acts of hospitality.
In retirement, she continued her service locally as a member of the Upper Uwchlan Township Historical Commission. She was an avid gardener and gracious host who loved welcoming family, friends, and neighbors into her home. Though she found it difficult to leave behind dear friendships with each move, she embraced each new community with faith and openness.
Above all, and throughout her entire life, Corinne's greatest joy was her family. She created countless treasured memories at home, making the ordinary extraordinary and on many family vacations making precious memories sometimes on a limited budget by time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren, and her life was a witness to love, faith, and self-gift.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the souls she boldly led closer to Christ.
