Clayton M. Ryce passed away on October 24, 2025 from complications after undergoing heart surgery. He is survived by his wife, Judith; daughters Jessie Ryce of Sheffield, England and Georgina Patel of Limerick, PA; brothers Clyde Ryce of Mehoopany, PA and Raymond Ryce of Meshoppen, PA; sister Marilyn Patton of Jacksonville, FL, two grandchildren Olivia and Joshua.
Born in Waco, Texas, Clayton was a son of Georgina (Harris) and Kenneth Ryce and grew up in Mehoopany, PA, He earned a bachelor's degree from Penn State University. After serving in Vietnam, as a Lieutenant with the U.S. Army Signal Corps, he earned a Masters Degree in journalism at Northwestern University. He worked as a reporter for 18 years with the Gannett Newspapers in Louisville, Kentucky before moving into corporate communications with LG&E in Louisville and PPL in Allentown, PA. He retired in 2011 from PNC.
Clayton is remembered for his love of family, his fierce competitive nature at family game night, his love of sports and his quiet activism in local politics and environmental causes. He was generous with his time, serving as President of the Friends of the Pottstown Regional Public Library and volunteering with the Recycling Service Inc.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations go to the Pottstown Regional Public Library.
